Pearl, Mother-of-Pearl and a Commitment to the Ocean

For more than 10 years, GIULIANI has been a pioneer of ethical jewelry in Greece. The Maison's mission is clear: to inspire through beauty, encourage positive progress and contribute to a more responsible future for fine jewelry.

GIULIANI creates modern, sustainable and committed jewelry guided by values of transparency, responsibility and respect. Since its founding, every GIULIANI creation has been crafted in Athens using Fairmined-certified ethical gold.

In 2018, GIULIANI introduced its first gemstones by making a bold and forward-thinking choice: laboratory-grown diamonds, officially known as synthetic diamonds. These new-generation diamonds offer full traceability and are designed as a more responsible alternative for people and the environment.

In December 2021, GIULIANI explored a new creative territory by embracing a timeless jewelry material: mother-of-pearl, and its precious treasure, the pearl.

A pearl is a symbol of the beauty and mystery of the ocean — a treasure that connects fine jewelry to the natural world.

Responsibly Cultured Pearls

A symbol of the beauty and mystery of the ocean, the pearl is also closely linked to the health of marine ecosystems. When practiced responsibly, pearl farming can help support marine biodiversity and contribute to the natural balance of ocean waters.

GIULIANI selects pearls for their exceptional colors, nacre quality and origin. The Maison works with pearl farms chosen not only for the beauty of their pearls, but also for their commitment to the preservation of marine habitats.

Fiji Pearls

The Fiji archipelago is renowned for its rare and colorful pearls. Fiji pearls represent only a very small share of global pearl production, making them especially sought after by collectors and fine jewelry enthusiasts.

With harvests limited to fewer than 20,000 pearls per year, these ocean gems are known for their rarity and their naturally vibrant shades, achieved without additives.

GIULIANI works closely with a trusted partner: J.Hunter Pearls.

Founded by Justin Hunter, a marine biologist of American and Fijian heritage, J.Hunter Pearls is dedicated to responsible pearl farming and ocean protection. Located in the heart of the Pacific, the pearl farm is recognized for its environmentally conscious approach and its support of local communities.

In 2008, J.Hunter Pearls established an Environmental Code of Practice, also known as ECOP, to guide sustainable pearl farming. The company also supports local employment in partnership with the town of Savusavu, the first town to receive "Blue Town" status in recognition of its commitment to the economic and social sustainability of communities.

As the initiator of the Blue Pledge program, J.Hunter Pearls brings together Pacific pearl farmers who aim to contribute to ocean health and develop a more circular blue economy.

Tahiti Pearls

The Kamoka pearl farm, located in north-east Tahiti, is another reference in responsible pearl farming. Its careful and rigorous cultivation methods are designed to help preserve marine biodiversity.

As a member of the 1% for the Planet movement, Kamoka Pearls has worked with local communities for more than 20 years to support best practices in marine environment preservation.

Unique Colors, Natural Reflections

Pearls and mother-of-pearl reveal a versatile and radiant light. Their unique shades display shimmering reflections of blue, dark green, white and iridescent tones.

Each pearl is naturally different, giving every GIULIANI jewel a unique character and a deep connection to the ocean.

"Each pearl is a fingerprint of the ocean — unique, unrepeatable, and deeply connected to the marine world."

A Stronger Commitment to Ocean Protection

GIULIANI collections have always carried essential values through their design. Through pearls and mother-of-pearl, powerful symbols of the sea's beauty, GIULIANI strengthens its commitment to one of the major environmental challenges of our time: protecting the ocean.

By supporting the work of Coral Guardian, GIULIANI contributes to coral reef restoration initiatives.

Each GIULIANI jewel adorned with pearls or mother-of-pearl is accompanied by the adoption of a coral, cared for and transplanted by Coral Guardian.

Since 2012, Coral Guardian has worked on seabed restoration projects in Indonesia and, more recently, off the coast of Spain.

Coral reefs play an essential role in marine life. Although they cover a limited part of the ocean floor, they are home to a significant share of known marine biodiversity. Protecting coral reefs is therefore an important step toward preserving ocean ecosystems for future generations.
